Privacy Policy
Your catch log, your photos, and the places you fish stay on your iPhone. We don't upload them, we don't store them, and we can't see them.
This policy describes what SeaWolf collects, what it deliberately does not, and who else is involved. It covers the SeaWolf iOS app and this website.
What stays on your device
The following never leaves your iPhone. It is stored locally and is not synced to us or to iCloud:
- Your catch log — species, size, bait, notes, conditions
- Catch photos and angler photos
- The coordinates of every catch
- Your map pins and saved spots
- Your anglers list
- Your profile — home port, units, preferences
Because this data is local, deleting the app deletes it permanently. There is no server copy for us to restore. Use Settings → Data → Export All My Data to keep your own backup before deleting or changing devices.
What we store on our servers
Signing in creates an account record. That record is small:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your Apple user identifier | To recognize you across sign-ins |
| Your email address | Account identification and support. If you used Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address. |
| Subscription status | To unlock Pro features you've paid for |
| A count of AI requests, with token totals | To enforce fair-use limits and control cost |
That is the complete list. We do not store the text of your AI conversations, the responses, your catches, your photos, or your locations.
What the AI features send
When you use the AI Advisor or ask for recommendations, we send the context needed to answer well. Being specific about it:
- Sent: a summary of up to your 20 most recent catches — species, weight, length, bait or lure, sky conditions, and date.
- Sent: the coordinates of your home port, or of the map area you asked about, so the advice matches your water.
- Not sent: your catch notes, the coordinates of individual catches, and your photos.
That context is used to generate one response and is not retained by us afterwards. It is processed by Anthropic as our AI provider; Anthropic does not use it to train models.
Location
With your permission, SeaWolf uses your location to center the map, tag a catch where you made it, and fetch conditions for where you are. Catch coordinates are stored on your device only. Home-port and map-area coordinates are sent with AI requests as described above, and coordinates are sent to weather and tide providers to look up a forecast.
You can decline location access; most of the app still works.
Photos
Catch photos are saved to your device and are excluded from device backups, so they are not copied to iCloud. They are never uploaded to us and are never sent to the AI. If a photo contains GPS metadata, SeaWolf reads it locally to place the catch, then strips it when saving.
Who else is involved
| Service | What they receive |
|---|---|
| Apple | Sign-in and subscription purchases. We never see your password or payment details. |
| Anthropic | AI request context, as described above |
| Open-Meteo | Coordinates, to return a forecast |
| NOAA | A tide station, to return tide predictions |
| OpenStreetMap | A map area, to find nearby launch points and structure |
| Cloudflare and Google Cloud | Hosting for our proxy and backend |
Tracking and analytics
SeaWolf contains no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no cross-app tracking. We do not sell or share personal data. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Deleting your account
Settings → Account → Delete Account removes your server record — the account, subscription entitlements, and usage history — and revokes SeaWolf's Sign in with Apple credential. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
Because your catches and photos live on your device, deletion offers to erase them locally as a separate step. If you skip it, that data stays on your phone until you remove the app.
Children
SeaWolf is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app's release notes.
